Businesses robbed

Two business robberies were reported over the weekend.

The first incident was in Bakerton on Friday at 6pm.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the owner of a business in First Street and his employee were working when they noticed two armed robbers entering the shop.

The owner, employee and two customers were held up and the robbers stole their cash and cellphones.

No shots were fired.

The second incident took place in Daggafontein Informal Settlement.

According to Capt Ramphora, the owner of a supermarket in Fluoride Street was still busy at his shop at 6:40pm when three robbers entered the shop.

“One of the robbers had a gun and fired a shot next to the fridge without a warning,” says Capt Ramphora.

The other robbers demanded money and airtime.

The owner handed over airtime, an undisclosed amount of cash and a laptop.

No one was injured during the shooting.

No arrests have been made.
