Motives for shooting unclear

A 57-year-old man was shot and killed while travelling along Ermelo Road at about 7pm last Tuesday.

The man was travelling with his wife and daughter in the car at the time of the shooting.

According to Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora, the man’s wife was concerned that they were being followed by a white Toyota Conquest.

“When they pulled over at the stop street to allow the Toyota to pass them, the suspects in the Toyota shot at the driver’s side of their car,” says Capt Ramphora.

The man was shot on the right side of his chest and died on the scene.

“His wife was traumatised and an ambulance was called to assist her,” says Capt Ramphora.

According to him, there were three suspects in the Toyota and the motive for the shooting is still unclear.

“No valuables were taken from the family. The suspects just shot at the man and drove away,” he says.

Police are investigating the shooting and trying to find the motive behind the attack.
