Caught in the act

Marion Vlaming, a Daggafontein Extension 2 resident, recently noticed a metro vehicle parked in an open field with wood loaded on the bakkie.

Upon investigation she found a metro worker cutting down trees.

“I was quite surprised when I approached him, he immediately apologised and admitted he is supposed to be working elsewhere,” says Vlaming, adding that he admitted to cutting the trees down for his own personal use.

According to metro spokesman Sam Modiba, they are aware of the misconduct and has taken disciplinary action against the employees concerned.

“The metro wishes to thank Vlaming for reporting this incident and would like to encourage other residents to report such acts of misconduct to the parks depot or to their nearest Customer Care Centre,” says Modiba.
