Springsites saving water, one drop at a time

This is what Springsites are doing to save water.

Benny Musina: “People should use a hosepipe to save water when washing their car. It’s easy to go through two or three 20 liter buckets of water without noticing because you just keep filling them up.”

Bongi Nkosi: “People should stop using the shower or the bath. They should use the bucket system like we do in the township. It’s better because it doesn’t use a lot of water.”

Niki Sultz: “When you’re washing dishes you should use the same water for more than half of the dishes. You can also share bathwater.”

Catherine Clifford: “You should shower with a bucket and then use that water to water the garden. You shouldn’t let the water run when you’re brushing your teeth.”

Lucy Willemse: “You should collect rainwater. We have four containers that each carry 200 liters of water. We use that to water the vegetable garden, wash the dogs, cars and fill up the little children’s pool.”

Morné Nortje: “People should turn off the tap when brushing their teeth.”

Thandeka Ndlovu: “You shouldn’t brush your teeth with the water running. You should turn the tap on and off as you use it. You should also do the same when you’re washing clothes instead of filling up the bathtub.”
