Hani legacy is also commemorated in Springs

The theatre production "Amandla" will be at the Springs Theatre on April 16

This year Springs is included in the “Time to remember Chris Hani”.

On April 16 the metro will host the theatre production “Amandla” at the Springs Theatre.

The show, Amandla, gives a view of South Africa’s journey to freedom through acapella music, coupled with great actors and talented vocalists.

It starts 6:30pm.

Ekurhuleni Metro declared the month of April as Chris Hani month a few years back. This month is reserved to remember Hani, who was killed at his Dawn Park home on April 10, 1993.

The theatre production is part of Hani month’s programme.

It started at the Thomas Nkobi Memorial Park in Boksburg on April 10 with a wreath-laying ceremony at Hani’s gravesite.

A memorial lecture at the Boksburg Civic Centre followed it at 5pm the same day. The lecture plays a pivotal role in the preservation of South African history and provides insight into the real legacy left by Hani.

The Chris Hani oral history debates will be held on Saturday, April 12 at the Dawnpark Primary School to teach the learners about the significance of the legacy of Hani.
