Geduld business owner robbed

Crime in brief is given on a weekly basis by the Springs police.

A man was robbed of cash at a shopping centre in Geduld last Sunday.

At 6.30am, a man went to an ATM at Springsgate to draw money.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora said the man went to his vehicle and was approached by two armed men.

“They said ‘put your hands in the air’ and searched him,” said Ramphora.

The robbers robbed the victim of his cell phone and wallet containing money and left.

A house robbery took place last Monday.

At 12.30pm, a man went shopping and returned to his home in Waterbok Road, Edelweiss.

According to Ramphora when the man arrived at home he was confronted by three armed men in his house.

They were armed with an AK47, a 9mm pistol and a rifle.

“They already had the two gardeners inside the house at the time the victim arrived home,” said Ramphora.

The robbers took a sound system, cell phone, bottles of wine and loaded the items into the victim’s Mercedes Benz C180 and drove off with his car as well as their own VW Vivo.

Another house robbery took place last Tuesday in Mimosa Street, Krugersrus.

At 2am a woman was asleep on the couch in the living room, when she woke up to find a man crawling on his hands and knees asking her for money.

“The woman ran to the main bedroom and locked herself in the room,” said Ramphora.

Another robber joined the first one and they broke down the bedroom door.

Ramphora said she screamed for help and her two male tenants came to her rescue, but the robbers pointed their firearms at the two.

The three of them were tied up with cable ties.

The robbers took a play station and clothing which they loaded into the victim’s Kia Picanto and drove off.

A business was robbed on Friday at 12.45pm.

A man and a friend were inside a shop in Tambotia Avenue, Dal Fouche when two armed men entered.

Ramphora said the robbers pointed their firearms at the two victims and demanded money.

They took cash and left the shop.

No shots were fired in any of the above cases.
