Ekurhuleni Bowls honours champs

The competition included 20 clubs from the region.

The Ekurhuleni Bowls (EKB) recently celebrated the winners of the annual EKB champion of champions tournament held in Kempton Park.

The competition saw 20 clubs represented winners in each section including open, novices and veterans from at Kempton Park Bowls Club, Benoni Bowling Club and Northmead Bowling Club.

It was a weekend full of bowls that saw all semi-finalists meet on the greens at Kempton Park across all sections where they battled it out for a place on the podium.

“Congratulations to all those who won their club champs and very well done to all those who took placements,” said EKB president Alana Warrender.

The results are were follows:

Novice women

• Winner – Hanri Ehlers from Delmas Bowling Club/Rolbalklub
• Runner up – Odette Swanepoel from Kempton Park Bowls

Open women

• Winner – Nina Maasburg from Delville Germiston Bowls Club
• Runner- up – Natsineekan Ziersman from Benoni Lake Club

Open men

• Winner – Johannes Sibusiso Molupi from Benoni Lake Club
• Runner up – Andrew Marshall Jnr from Kleinfontein Bowls club.

Novice men

• Winner – Shaun Coetzee from Alberton Bowling Club
• Runner up – Tyrone Botha from Kempton Park Bowls

Veteran women

• Winner – Shaney Collard from Benoni Country Club Bowls
• Runner-up – Meisie Rheeder from Kempton Park Bowls

Veteran men

• Winner – Ronaldo Taljaard from Kempton Park Bowls
• Runner-up – Roy Turton from Brackenhurst Bowling Club
