Sip ‘n Cro crochet marathon for charity

The event will run from 07:00 to 19:00 and anyone is welcome to join in the fun.

Sip ‘n Crochet will hold a crochet marathon on May 25 at the NG Kerk Selectionpark. The marathon will run from 07:00 to 19:00, and food will be provided to crocheters.

The idea is to get as many granny squares completed to go towards the charity blankets that ladies work on during the monthly Sip ‘n Cro meetings, but also just to have a fun day with friends.

There will be moderators counting how many squares are made and hours worked to ensure the sponsors who pledged donations pay for what was done.

Sponsors can pledge any amount per square or hour worked, and the total hours worked or squares completed will indicate what the total donation is.

People can also just donate a fixed monetary amount before May 10, which will go towards wool for the day and paying the women from the church that will be catering the event.

Pledged donations will go to wool after the event, which will be used in future Sip ‘n Cro meetings to make more blankets for charity. The registration fee to crochet in the marathon is R150 per person, which also goes towards catering and wool.

Anyone is welcome to join in and crochet their squares, which will be given to Sip ‘n Cro to go towards their charity blankets. Sponsorship forms can be requested from the organiser, Gerda van Tonder.

Anyone interested in joining in the fun or making or pledging a donation may contact Gerda on 073 269 5153.
