Local cricket winter tournament reaches quarterfinals

The ZTC Springs Premier League (SPL) T20 Winter Knockout Tournament will be held on August 9 at the SOB Club at 09:30.

The ZTC Springs Premier League (SPL) T20 Winter Knockout Tournament hosted two matches at the Springs Old Boys (SOB) Club on Sunday.

Javid Patel cites that in their recent contest, they had some high-level cricketers that participated, both local and provincial.

“This lifted the image of our tournament,” said Patel.

In the first match, Eagle 11 won the toss and elected to bowl first.


Nico Baloyi was the best bowler for Markhor with 3.5 overs 32 runs and 3 wickets.

Gattu 11 scored 192/5 in 20 overs. Best batters were Yusuf Jajbhai (61*) and Vincent Herold (29*). Best bowlers were Vincent Herold (3.4 overs, 3/48).

Eagle 11 scored 193/8 in 19.4 overs. Best batters were Mudadsar Ghuman (55) and Casha Pretorias (37). Best bowlers were Nadeem Bajwa (4 overs, 2/53).

Eagle 11 won by two wickets. In the second match of the quarter-finals, Markhor won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Cape Champions scored 144 all out in 19.4 overs.


Legato Kgoatle took best batter for Markhor.

Best batters for Cape Champions were Ali Hussein (34 runs). Best bowlers for Cape Champions were Ali Akhalawaya (two overs, 10/1).

Markhor Glenvista scored 147/2 in 13.5 overs. Best batters for Markhor were Legato Kgoatle (91*) and Kaif Patel (38*). Best bowlers for Markhor were Mohsin Patel (4 overs, 3/20) and Nico Baloyi (3.5 overs, 3/32).

Markhor Glenvista won by eight wickets.

The Winter Knockout Tournament will be held on August 9 at the SOB Club at 09:30.
