The meerkat who stands tall

Tanashe is the first female to attain a highly sought after award in Scouts.

Tanashe Mugobera from Lodeyko has done everyone and the Scouts movement proud.

The Grade Two learner, who goes to Rainbow Education Centre, is officially the first girl Meerkat in Springs Central Air Group to earn her top gold award in Meerkats. She completed the programme on July 21.

“She has gone on all kinds of adventures and she has also gone on hikes, horse riding and was the first girl to also earn her reading badge,” said Den Scouter.

Proud mother, Memory, says she has never been happier.

“I am proud of my little princess for achieving this award. I feel Tanashe has so much potential and this is just the beginning of more and greater achievements to come,” she said.

Tanashe, who joined the scouts last June, also expressed her elation at being the first girl to attain this award.

“I feel happy and proud of myself for achieving the award,” she said.

She also said she loves being a Scout.

“We are always learning new things and we get merit badges for the things they tell us to do,” she added.

When she is not busy setting new records, Tanashe loves going to school, doing gymnastics and playing games on her phone.

“I wish her the best of luck as she moves over to Cubs. I hope she earns lots of badges to fill those arms as well as make us proud and do her best,” affirmed Nicole.
