Man shot in Kwazenzele by armed robbers

A man was shot in Kwazenzele on Wednesday morning.

A man was shot after his neighbour, a Bangladeshi shop owner, was robbed in the early hours of Wednesday morning in Kwazenzele.

The shop owner and his brother were asleep inside the container when they heard a noise.

Two men, one armed with a pistol, entered the shop.

According to Springs SAPS spokesperson Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the robbers hit the victim and his brother with an empty coffee tin.

“The complainant shouted to his neighbour for help. The suspects started taking items from the shop.

“These included cigarettes valued at R3 000, three Huawei cellphones valued at R15 000 and R10 000 in cash,” added Tshabalala.

The victims then heard gunshots as the robbers left the container.

“When they went outside, they found the neighbour with a wound in his left shoulder,” said Tshabalala.

He was taken to the hospital.
