Tenor Sibusiso Simelane (27) will put on a show at the Springs Civic Theatre (Ken Gampu Theatre) on August 6.

Born and raised in Kwa-Thema, Simelane had the opportunity to study music at North-West University.

“Unfortunately, I couldn’t continue my education due to financial difficulties, as my dream was to become a doctor in music,” he explains.

He discovered his passion for music while reading a storybook about a little girl who summoned a magic fish through a song.

“Since then, creating melodies for written lyrics has been my passion. I joined choirs and developed my music career throughout my school years.

“In high school, I was introduced to opera and it became my focus,” added Simelane.

He has had the privilege of touring the world, performing in various shows, gigs, and international exchange programmes.

“My ultimate career goal is to sing professionally throughout my life, even after reaching the age of 65,” he said.
Simelane is inviting the public to his show and experience the high level of singing that he aims to deliver.

“With the training, I have received from renowned international industry professionals, I want to showcase my singing skills.

“I am grateful to be selected by Be100 for their annual recital, and I am honoured to be part of an initiative aimed at reviving music in Ekurhuleni at the Springs Theatre.
