EMPD shares tips to prevent becoming a target for hijacking
The EMPD has been receiving countless reports of hijacking incidents that took place in similar ways and has issued tips to avoid such instances.
With more cars on the road daily, hijackers are seizing the opportunity by preying on unsuspecting motorists.
EMPD media liaison officer Ignatius Maphike shares the following tips for motorists to avoid being hijacked:
What to equip your vehicle with:
• Fit a tracking device.
• Fit an alarm system.
• Make sure all doors are locked.
• Park at a safe place or lock gates at all times.

What to do before going into your place of residence:
• Be vigilant.
• Always be on the lookout for suspicious people.
• Report anything that you feel is suspicious.
• Pass your place of residence to look for anything suspicious outside your yard.
• Never leave keys outside.
