MachKnitz looks forward to producing more garments to stores

MachKnitz's garment production will be available at selected boutiques soon.

Knitters from the MachKnitz get together every Wednesday to share their love of knitting over breakfast, conversations and laughter.

Nothing changed over the past week as the knitters eagerly prepared some garments for the NPO’s first production, which is planned to be launched soon.

Adri Grib explained that the process is still in the early stages and they are unable to name the products as Machknitz at this time.

However, they are content with their major achievements.

Featured are machine and hand-knitted mohair chunky jumpers and vests, as well as chunky boatneck jerseys.

Dineo Motsei, who joined MachKnitz early last year, said she was excited to be one of the knitters who have contributed to the NPO’s production items.

“The joy of wearing locally made garments is a wonderful experience,” said Dineo.

“Since we started we have made a lot of progress.”

Dineo adds that being at the centrum has ignited her knitting passion, which makes it hard for her to shop.

“Somehow, buying knitted items at shops has become a nightmare for me. With the knowledge that I have acquired from knitting, I now compare how they are made and the type of wool they have used.”

Every Wednesday MachKnitters meet at 13 Louis Botha Road in Casseldale. MachKnitz is a local NPO that specialises in knitting using electric and manual knitting machines.
