Guards injured in business robbery

According to Springs SAPS communication officer Themba Tshabalala, all four security officers were severely attacked and taken to a local hospital.

Four security guards at a local company were injured last Thursday.

The first victim claims he was on duty, patrolling the yard, when he came across two men.

“He asked them why they were there and one of them pulled out a gun.

“He was threatened and told not to scream,” explained Sergeant Themba Tshabalala, the communications officer at the Springs Police Station.

The victim alleges they searched him and took his cellphone and panic button.

They also asked him how many other people were with him on duty.

He told them there were others in the guard room.

“They then took him to the guard room, where they found three other guys and started assaulting them. The guards were also tied up.

“One of the supervisors was at the site to visit and he was driving a white Toyota Hilux (HJJ639MP).

“The vehicle had a load of three minibus engines.

“The suspects drove away with it,” added Tshabalala.

All four security officers were severely assaulted and taken to hospital.

The value of the stolen items and the bakkie is about R300 000.
