Local football club hosts pre-season tournament

The derby helped the teams to start the season.

Eastern Springs Local Football Association held a pre-season derby on February 25. The friendly tournament was held at the Pam Brink sports grounds for the U13, U15, U17 and super division teams.

The U13s kicked off the day with Patie M Guns FC facing Dangerous. Patie M Guns dominated the match to win 3-0 with the captain Prince Phiri scoring a hat-trick and earning himself the man of the match.

The U15 match was more intense as Patie M Guns also faced Dangerous. Phiri opened the scoring for Patie M Guns in the opening minutes of the match and Dangerous equalised just before the end of the first half.

In the dying minutes of the game, Setshaba Makhafola scored a goal to win the match for Patie M Guns 2-1.

The man of the match was shared by Onthatile Kamudi and Zanokuhle Mnisi for excellent performances.

Patie M Guns remain undefeated in this age group. Probably the toughest match of the day was Patie M Guns taking on Dangerous.

Patie M Guns FC opened the scoring courtesy of a goal by Olwami Sifolo, with Dangerous almost immediately equalising.

Sifolo scored again to make it 2-1 but Dangerous struck again. In the dying minutes of the first half, Sifolo scored his third goal.

Early in the second half, Dangerous scored to level the match. Solomzi Mohapi scored to make it 4-3 to Patie M Guns but again Dangerous FC equalised.

Nicholus Sibanyoni, the vice-captain of Patie M Guns, scored a long-range from almost the halfway line, making the score 5-4. In the last 10 minutes of the match, Dangerous scored three goals to secure a 7-5 victory

The man of the match was the 13-year-old goalkeeper, Siyabonga Vilakazi. In the super division, Patie M Guns faced Springs Captain Uprise Supers.

Patie M Guns opened the scoring courtesy of a gaol by Malibongwe Mtshali, followed by a goal from Sbonelo Radebe.

Springs Captain Uprise scored to stay in the match.

Seventeen-year-old Tebogo Mahase then scored a goal to make it 3-1 to Patie M Guns, followed by another goal by Malibongwe Mtshali.

Springs Captain Uprise enjoyed a consolation goal as Patie M Guns won 4-2. Sbonelo Radebe was the man of the match.
