Springs SAPS awards its members for excellent service

Springs SAPS station commander Brigadier Thembeka Gwebushe said she takes pride in knowing that crime victims are reassured that they will be supported efficiently when they enter the Springs police station.

Members of the Springs SAPS were treated to a glamorous year-end function and prestige awards ceremony on December 3.

Brigadier Thembeka Gwebushe, station commander, congratulated the men and women in blue on their dedicated line of service to the Springs community.

“I would like to say that those members who received awards must be grateful that they are being acknowledged for their hard work,” said Gwebushe.

“The sky is the limit. As management, we found it important that we reward members who have excelled.

“For the past two years, we didn’t have such big occasions due to Covid-19. We felt propelled to hold such a special day for members who have excelled.”

She assured SAPS members, who did not receive awards, that their lack of recognition did not imply a lack of ability. Gwebushe said it was also important to also acknowledge the support services department that is always behind the scenes of the office.

“Those are the members that play a big role in our station. Without them, we won’t be able to achieve our goals. These members ensure we have resources that are needed,” said Gwebushe.

Springs CPF chairperson Barend van Heerden attested to the hard work that the Springs SAPS has contributed to the community.

“Compared to other police stations, I see a lot of commitment from SAPS in Springs. Even though we’re short-staffed, we have more commitment than anywhere else. From the community, I would like to say thank you for all your hard work. It means a lot to us.”
