Mzumbe patients receive blankets

“We found some patients in bed and wheelchairs. It was overwhelming seeing the smiling faces of the community members who received their blankets and we are happy that this has made a huge difference in the communities.”

Bianca Birnie, African Queen Foundation ambassador, visited Mzumbe Clinic on June 5 to donate blankets.
She said a sponsor blessed them with blankets to distribute to Mzumbe Clinic patients.

Mzumbe Clinic nurses Cynthia Ntsoko, Legato Mofokeng, Sibongile Mahlangu, Getrute Mahlangu, Lindi Nkosi, Bonita Nkosi and Refilwe Mnguni.

“We had 23 patients able to get to the clinic, but we did not stop there. We went to the homes of people who were unable to get their donations,” said Birnie.
She said they went to the homes of patients because some are blind, cannot walk or are bed-ridden and unable to come to the clinic.

Patients at Mzumbe Clinic cheer joyfully with their new blankets.

Nurses at the clinic assisted the foundation to track patients who were unable to visit the clinic.
“We would also like to give thanks to the nurses who have assisted us in making this drive a success. They were helpful and care about their patients. We will continue distributing blankets,” said Birnie.
