Councillor Thulani Simelane recently teamed up with the Ward 74 committee and MCC Security in Geduld to clean up Butler Park.
Simelane said the park has been neglected for years and they saw the need to do something about it.
“Children are unable to play at the park because of the filth. It can cause a health hazard to people,” he said.
He said the parks department must now take responsibility to make sure the park is well maintained for the community.

“We are also currently working on building a fence for the park. That will prevent the park from being dirty constantly.
“I would like to thank my new committee and local businesses for helping with cleaning materials and refreshments,” said Simelane.
