Two nabbed with suspected stolen goods

The men tried to run off but were cornered.

Two men were recently arrested at a warehouse in Welgedacht for being in possession of suspected stolen goods.
Springs SAPS Crime Prevention members, under the command of Capt Mervyn Kasavan, rushed to the scene after receiving a tip-off.
“They found two foreign nationals inside a truck.
“The men tried to run off but were cornered and arrested,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
The truck was loaded with drums of fish oil. The police requested the pair produce proof of purchase of the goods.

“A thorough investigation was conducted and it was established the goods were delivered the previous day to be transported to another location.
“Further information was received that the truck was hijacked in Bedfordview the previous day,” he added.
Both men were arrested for possession of suspected stolen goods and detained at Springs SAPS.
Brig Thembeka Gwebushe, Springs SAPS station commander, applauded the members for their swift response and apprehending the suspects.
She stated she appreciates community members for their commitment to working with police by reporting crime and removing criminals from the community.
