Quantum driver hijacked

The victim reported he was driving a white Toyota Quantum (HG87PCGP) when he stopped and picked up five men and a woman.

A taxi driver was hijacked en route from Devon to Springs last Saturday.
The victim reported he was driving a white Toyota Quantum (HG87PCGP) when he stopped and picked up five men and a woman.
“The woman sat in the front seat,” said Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
Along the way, two more men flagged down the taxi and got inside, and the driver continued on the journey.
“One passenger then said that he wanted to get out so the driver stopped,” said Ramphora.

As the man got out, another man pulled out a gun and ordered the driver not to move.
“The passenger who got out of the Quantum came to the driver’s door and pulled out a gun. The victim managed to push the door against the armed man and he fell.
“The victim got out and ran away, leaving the engine still running,” he continued.
He saw the vehicle driving off, but he kept on running towards Devon.
The matter was reported to Devon SAPS where a case was opened.
The vehicle is valued at more than half a million rand.
