Team H2O Swimming Club back in action

“The race was recognised by Guinness World Records as the world's largest open-water swimming event. Team H2O once again took part in this event and came back with medals,” she said.

Team H2O Swimming Club is a registered Swimming South Africa (SSA) and Eastern Gauteng Aquatics (EGA) club.
They compete monthly in various age group galas.
Coach Heather Grafe said they are back in practice to compete in the regional championships in March.

Ethan Murray, Jessica Scorgie, and Michaela Mentos are level one swimmers.

“Swimmers need to swim several galas throughout the season and obtain level two times set out by SSA. Once the swimmers have achieved this, they take part in the SSA Regional Level Two Championships, which will take place on March 11 to 13 at the Delville Swimming Pool in Germiston,” said Grafe.
She told the Advertiser that for the past two years they haven’t been competing due to the pandemic, but now they are back and ready to swim and win.

“Team H2O has four swimmers who have achieved their level two times and will take part in the championships,” she said.
The Midmar Mile is also held early in the year for the swimming teams to compete in.
“The Midmar Mile is approximately 1.6km and is held annually in February at the Midmar Dam, north of Pietermaritzburg. Each year, this event draws thousands of competitors from serious international athletes and Olympic medallists to recreational swimmers.

“Guinness World Records recognised the race as the world’s largest open-water swimming event. Team H2O once again took part and came back with medals,” she said.
