Business robbed of excavator valued at R1-m

The victim, who lives in a caravan on the premises, guards excavators.

A security guard at a Selection Park business was ambushed by robbers at the premises last Friday evening.
The victim, who lives in a caravan on the premises, guards excavators.
“He heard a knock at the door. Before he could open the door, three men walked into his caravan,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs SAPS.
Two of the men were armed.

“The robbers tied his hands behind his back and told him to lie down and cooperate,” he added.
They took the guard’s cellphone and R2 800 cash.
The victim heard an excavator, valued at more than R1-million, starting and he heard the sound of a truck.
When he was freed, he discovered the excavator had been stolen.
