Prematurity Day observed at Far East Rand Hospital

The Far East Rand Hospital celebrated World Prematurity Day on November 17.
“NGOs like The Joseph Jersey Project, Al-Imdaad Foundation, Kindness Like Confetti and Mini Miracles have donated everything that will help the premature baby and the mother.
“They donated 100 gifts to the Far East Rand Hospital,” said Tracy Hannah from Doula, an organisation at the hospital.
She said the idea is to bring the celebration of World Prematurity Day to the mothers of premature babies and raise awareness of the day.
“We have received donations like fridges, blankets, new furniture and other gifts to upgrade the premature baby ward,” she said.

Ayesha Patel from Al-Imdaad Foundation told the Advertiser they are happy to bring gifts and do what they can to assist mothers who give birth to premature babies.
“We have donated to many hospitals across Gauteng, but this is our first time at the Far East Rand Hospital. We chose this hospital because there is a great need in the premature baby ward.
“We are an NGO and we hope to do donate more to the hospital in the long run,” said Patel.
Clair Duvel from Kindness Like Confetti said they also brought toiletries to assist the mothers.
“It is also important to bring awareness of this day for other organisations to assist mothers where they can. It is also important for mothers to be taught about their babies on how they need to be taken care of since they were born early,” said Duvel.
