Runners of all fitness levels braved the gloomy weather on Saturday morning to participate in the club run.
“We have been rather inactive for the last 18 months so everyone is really glad to be back. If no lockdown regulations are forcing us to close over the holidays, the club will remain open,” explained Gert van Moerkerken of the club.

Participants braved the wet weather to enjoy the trail at the Springs Parkrun.

November also marked the fifth year since Springs Parkrun had its first event at the grounds of Horse and Hound.
The event is now a household name in the community, and they keep going stronger.
Twelve-year-old Jordon Lemprecht marched into first place in 26 minutes and 24 seconds.

“When we could not come to the parkrun, I still trained at home and school. But I am really happy that we can come back here,” he said.
His older brother Sheldon came in a few minutes after him.
Willem Becker, who came in second place, came from Sundra for the morning run.

The Springs Parkrun is open to the public.

“I am so excited that the parkrun is back. Running with other people is so much better than doing it alone. It is just great to see everyone again,” he said.
The club is encouraging the community to participate.
“We are always in need of volunteers,” explained van Moerkerken.
