Restoration of Park Hotel on hold

“Someone approached the municipality to lease for renovations. The renovations started but now everything is on hold. We still waiting for the feedback from the owner on what is going on at the hotel for it to start being in operations.”

The Park Hotel in Selection Park has been neglected and vandalised for many years, raising concerns among residents about the building’s deterioration.

There was some progress made; however, when the building underwent restoration work last year, as reported by the Advertiser.

The outer walls were re-plastered, and the rooms and the bar were repaired.
The property also received security upgrades, including a gate and burglar bars to keep the property safe from vandalism.

According to former Ward 76 councillor Shadow Shabangu, the restoration work has regrettably been put on hold.
