Man hijacked by would-be client

The victim, who was accompanied by a friend, told police he arrived along 2nd Street around 13:00 to meet up with a client.

The driver of a Renault Captur was robbed of his car last Thursday.
The victim, who was accompanied by a friend, told police he arrived along 2nd Street around 13:00 to meet up with a client.
“On arrival, they found a gold Audi A4. He got out of the car and was told to go back to his car to discuss the problem,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer of Springs Police Station.
The victim alleged two other men got into the car with him, one of whom threatened the friends with a gun.

“They were taken to the Audi and the victim’s vehicle was driven by one of the suspects. They were then taken to a squatter camp in Evaton,” added Ramphora.
The victim was ordered to phone his wife to bring a Ford Ranger, which the robbers believe he owned, or R250 000.
“The two men were then locked up in a shack. After a while, they managed to remove a sheet of zinc and escape,” Ramphora continued.
The pair then found their way to the Evaton Police Station.
No injuries were reported and the perpetrators are still at large.
