Man hijacked, kidnapped for three days

The victim alleged he was driving along First Avenue when one of the wheels of his Hyundai Getz came loose.

A Springs resident was robbed of his car last Saturday after men who offered to help him overpowered him.
The victim alleged he was driving along First Avenue when one of the wheels of his Hyundai Getz came loose.
“Just before he stopped the car, he saw three men approaching him. He parked the car and the men offered to help him with the wheel.
“The victim accepted their offer. As he got inside his vehicle, he saw one of the men held a firearm,” explained Capt Johannes Ramphora, communications officer at the Springs Police Station.

It is alleged the men then got into the car and drove around with the victim.
“They drove around with him for three days. It is also alleged they gave him drugs,” he added.
The victim claimed his hands were tied behind his back as one of the men tried to kill him.
This is when he saw the opportunity to escape the ordeal. He ran for approximately 9km before he saw an EMPD officer who took him to the Etwatwa Police Station.
