Getting to know Amoret D’ Arrigo

We also had a fossil display and the children were overjoyed.

Amoret D’ Arrigo, the marketing manager at the Springs Mall, has been essential to the rise in the popularity of the mall.
The mall has always been part of her life. It was her father’s dream and says it has shown her that passion, tenacity and perseverance are keys to reaching one’s goals.
How long have you been working at the mall?
I’ve been working at the mall since the very beginning, even before it opened so it’s been a very long journey.
It was tough going at first, but I worked with such a wonderful team, which made it all worth it.

What are your duties as the marketing manager?
As the marketing manager, I have to take the brands to the community.
I need to get people excited about what’s happening at the mall and provide them with an education as well.
I also manage all of our social media sites to reach as many people as possible, which takes up a lot of my time.
We also have a lot of meetings where we sit together and brainstorm ideas on how to get more people in the mall.
What are some of the challenges you were faced with?
Just breaking into the marketing world was a challenge and many extra challenges come with that as well.
Strangely enough, one of our biggest problems is people not respecting our disabled parking area.
People with no disabilities will park there and then get annoyed with us when they get fined.
What does your average day look like?
I come into the office, meet with the team and then work on our Facebook and other social media sites.
After that, I take a walk around the mall to ensure everything is in order and that all the stores are following the correct procedures in how and what they advertise.

How has Covid-19 and the lockdowns affected the mall?
We were very worried when we saw that the number of people coming to the mall decreased dramatically.
But a very interesting thing happened; even though fewer people came in, their basket sizes increased, and this is something that was experienced by every other mall we’ve spoken with.
What have some of the most memorable moments of your tenure at the mall been?
There have been so many through the years. But the opening of the mall definitely stands out to me.
In 2019, we had a dinosaur display where we hired the biggest animatronic T-Rex in Africa and people were so excited.
We also had a fossil display and the children were overjoyed.
Other memorable moments include hosting a drifting championship in the parking space and the freestyle motorbike stunts, among many others.
