Unjani opens doors in Tsakani

Since its opening in March they have already done 168 consultations, most of whom were for pensioners who are low and middle earners.

Tsakani – Unjani Clinics launched their new clinic on Modjadji Street in Tsakani last Friday.
The clinic is partnered with Bayer Pharmaceuticals as a commitment to transform, empower and contribute to sustainable communities and livelihoods.
The Tsakani clinic is one of the three sponsored by the pharmaceutical company.
The facility is aimed at empowering black female professional nurses and creating permanent jobs.

Since its opening in March, they have already done 168 consultations, most of whom were for pensioners who are low and middle earners.
Klaus Eskstein, CEO of Bayer, said while private and public hospitals and clinics exist, there are too few to deal with the increasing healthcare burden.

“Another challenge is private healthcare is too expensive for the bulk of the population.
“The innovation behind Unjani Clinics is based on shifting primary healthcare tasks to professional nurses and the ability to leverage a highly developed and extensive private sector distribution network to ensure more people have access to medicines,” he said.
