UPDATE: Springs Old Boys meeting canceled

A public meeting will be held at the club at 2pm on Saturday to decide on the future of the club.

Due to an overwhelming response from the public, the planned meeting at Springs Old Boys has been canceled.

Club chair person Kelly Clarke says he is concerned about infringing Covid 19 regulations.

“If people need to talk to me, I am available to answer any questions they might have.”

Call him on 082 322 6083.

This after the Springs Old Boys Club in Pollak Park has been meticulously picked apart by vandals since the lockdown started last year.
The club is on the verge of collapse as it has been shut down since March last year and hasn’t been allowed to host any social or sporting activities.
It hosts a bowling club, two cricket pitches, two soccer fields and a bar.
Club chairperson Kelly Clarke briefly explained the source of the club’s difficulty has been that it still has normal expenses to pay but hasn’t been able to generate an income.

Additionally, the presence of squatters and increased vandalism at the club since March has left the 74-year-old club in dire straits.
During a visit to the club by The Advertiser in December, broken toilets were observed, and light fixtures and door handles had been removed.
The damage will likely cost more than the club can afford.
A public meeting will be held at the club at 2pm on Saturday to decide on the future of the club.
All are invited to attend.
