Truck driver robbed by armed assailants

In addition to the cargo in the truck, the robbers also took the truck driver’s cellphone.

A truck driver was miraculously left unharmed after an armed robbery on the R29 last Sunday afternoon.
The truck driver told police he was driving on Ermelo Road towards Devon when he saw a white VW Polo wanting to overtake him.
The Polo drove up alongside him and the passenger of the Polo pointed a gun at the driver, indicating he should pull over.

The truck driver made a U-turn and drove towards Springs.
The robbers did the same and followed him and once they had caught up, indicated that if the driver didn’t stop, they were going to shoot him.
The truck driver pulled over and one of the robbers got out of the car and opened the driver’s door and told the driver not to touch anything.

He then dragged the driver to the back of the truck and instructed him to open the tail lift of the truck.
Once it was open, the robber told the driver to get inside.
The robbers then took approximately 12 boxes out of the truck and the driver’s cellphone before fleeing the scene.
