There is a new dojo in town

Shihan Michael Cindi has opened the new dojo in Selcourt

Shihan Michael Cindi has opened the new Pan African Shotokan Karate Federation’s head quarters in Selcourt.
The chief instructor previously ran the Kwa-Thema Shotokan Dojo at Kenneth Masikela Secondary School.
“The Covid-19 lockdown had a grave impact on the club and we could no longer make use of the school for our practices.
“But it is not all doom and gloom and we found this venue, which is is even better suited for our training needs,” said Cindi.

The new venue is at the SPAR building on Nigel Road and the club opened its doors in July.
Cindi boasts a six-dan black belt grading.
The club offers women self-defence classes, children’s classes, Koshiki, karate, Kududo (weapons) and aerobics.
“Over the years, I have seen a great development in children in martial arts.
“The discipline they get not only helps them to excel in the sport but in all areas of their lives as well.

“I encourage parents to always check the credentials of the instructors before they trust them with grooming their children,” he said.
The club will host a seminar to educate the public on martial arts on the weekend.
“The seminar will cover some of the fields that we do not offer at the club, like Ti-Chi.
“But I encourage the public to come and learn,” added Cindi.
