Elderly man left with bruises after robbery

An elderly man was left ruing his decision to help a man who asked for food at his gate in Pollak Park.
Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora said the 69-year-old victim was at home when he heard a man at the gate calling out, asking for food.

When the victim opened the gate to hand over food to the man, he was overpowered. The robber forced the victim inside the house where he tied him up with shoelaces.

Once the victim was immobile, the man searched his bedroom and and found a 7.65 Walther pistol with seven rounds under the pillow, which he took before fleeing the scene on foot.
The victim was left with bruises on his arms.
