Molendam residents given an afternoon to remember

Spirits were high as residents joined in the festivities, dancing and singing along to the music.

Springs police, in partnership with the Sector One CPF, arranged a community outreach programme at Molendam Old Age Home on Wednesday morning.

Local singer Matt Young, with Sonja and Leon Cilliers, performed country and Afrikaans songs that sent the residents down memory lane.

Spirits were high as residents joined in the festivities, dancing and singing along to the music.

The programme was also a celebration of Women’s Month.

CPF member Chantelle Scheepers said; “We want to cheer up the elderly people in this town.

“ don’t think a lot of people realise how much they have gone through during lockdown.

“Some of them have been alone here for months, and some of them are quite sick as well.

We want them to know we have not forgotten them.”

Resident Patryc Nieman was grateful to the police and all the other sponsors who made the event possible.
