Liquor store robbed by armed suspects

The Park Liquor store at the corner of the Oppenheimer Circle and Blink Street was robbed by four suspects on last Thursday.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the complainant alleged a suspect wearing a mask and hat entered the store and stood in the queue, pretending he was there to pay.

Once he got to the till, he showed the complainant his firearm and instructed her to put money in a plastic bag he was carrying.

The woman did as instructed and gave the suspect the bag with the money in it.

The suspect then jumped over the counter and took the rest of the cash from both tills, amounting to R15 000.

Meanwhile, outside the store three suspects approached the security guard, and one of the suspects showed the guard his gun.

He then instructed him to enter the store, but the guard managed to run away.

The suspect then fired two shots towards the guard, but the guard returned fire, prompting the suspects to flee.

The suspects fled the scene in a white Nissan Almera and a white VW Polo with unknown registrations.
