Covid-19: GDE closes Selcourt Primary for decontamination

Selcourt Primary School to be decontaminated after confirmed case of Covid-19.

The office of the Gauteng Department of Education Gauteng East Districy director Somikazi Chabalala has issued a statement announcing the suspension of classes at Selcourt Primary School until June 22.

This comes after a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

On Thursday, the GDE says the Department of Health has visited the school and interviewed some educators.

The recommendation was then made in line with the Standard Operating Procedures on Coronavirus that says: “if an employee has tested positive and has also been in contact with other employees in the same workplace, all employees must then be on self-quarantine.”

While the school is closed, decontamination will be done by the Department of Education in all the areas where the staff member could have been.

Parents of grade 7 learners were notified, by the school, of the closure yesterday (Wednesday).
