Local rock band, Radio Rats have not let time dampen their prolific and quality output, and their latest album, Killville, contains some of the groups best songs to date.

Their iconic sense of humour is immediately present with song titles such as Secret Evil Beam Gun and Bodyguard With a Guitar.

Dave Davies’ rough vocals take centre stage in most of the tracks, and Gil Gilcrhrist’s impressive fretwork culminates in a rock record that stands out with the best of them.

Davies’ vocals sound similar to Led Zeppelin’s front man Robert Plant and other ’70s male rock vocalists but has its own distinct qualities.

Gilchrist’s guitar playing stands out on tracks like Secret Evil Beam Gun and Haunted Sister.

He jumps into impressive solos that echo that of Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour, and some impressive slide playing on Nicely Crazy.
Riaan Esterhuizen’s demonstrates his diverse style of playing, ranging from dampened shuffle beats to pounding punk drumming.
The quality production also stands out, with crystal clear sound and perfect sound mixing.
Killville is a loud, bold statement from the legendary band that they are far from quitting and still have a few musical tricks up their sleeves.
