Man hijacked on Second Street

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says the victim had just stopped at the traffic lights when when his car was blocked from the front, by a Chevrolet sedan.

A 39-year-old man was hijacked last Thursday evening on the corner of Second Street and Sixth Avenue.

He was approached by two suspects with covered faces who both had guns. They stood on either side of the vehicle banging on the windows.

The suspects shouted at him to open the doors, before they realised they were not locked.

The suspects forced the complainant out of his vehicle, a dark blue Ford Focus with registration number CP81JZ GP.

When the complainant started running away, towards Third Street, the one suspect shot a shot into the air and when the complainant turned around he saw the suspects driving towards First Street with the vehicle.

No injuries were reported and a cartridge was recovered at the scene.

No arrests have been made.
