Local tennis stars excel

“Players enjoy representing their schools and improving on their doubles match play.”

Jo-Ann Schoeman and Ebin Joubert from Laerskool Selection Park took part in the Gauteng East Primary Schools Term Four Super Doubles league at the GETA headquarters in Lakeside Benoni on October 7 and 14.

They finished second in the Section Four game.

Various schools from Gauteng East took part in the competition including: Ashton International College, Tom Newby Primary, Farrarmere Primary, Laerskool Dalview, Benoni Muslim School, Laerskool Baanbreker, St Dominic’s College, Curro Serengeti, Laerskool Selection Park, Laerskool Delmas, Laerskool Rynfield and Parkrand Primary.

Results of the A section played on October 7:

First: Arron van Eck and Baatile Modise from Ashton College.

Second: Celeste Matsaudza and Talia Farina from St Dominic’s.

Results of the October 14 matches:

Section One:

First: Christian Barnard and Ruan Nelson from Laerskool Rynfield.

Second : Jayden Goosen and Owen Dalzell from Ashton College.

Section Two and Three:

First: Logan van Wyk and Francois Barnard from Laerskool Rynfield.

Second: Jethani Koen and Jana Nelson from Laerskool Rynfield.

League organisers Desiré Wilson and Carlouw Thompson says: “This is the third year we are offering the term four doubles league.

“Players enjoy representing their schools and improving on their doubles match play.”
