• Join the Springs Park Rotary Anns at Riverside Country Estate for Breakfast for Cansa, where there will be great food, an excellent motivational speaker and it is for a good cause. November 2

• Selcourt Primary School is turning 60 and invites you to celebrate this milestone with current staff and learners. There are loads of activities planned for the entire family, including inflatables for the children, flea markets and tantalising food stalls. • St Peter & St Paul Anglican Church is hosting their annual golf day at The Lake Club on the corner of Edward and Divot streets in Benoni. Tee-off is at 12noon and there will be a shotgun start with IPS. You can enter a four-ball or sponsor a hole. Contact Geoffrey Barton on 083 420 2583.

November 5

November 9

• Dr Ashesh I Ranchod will hold a lecture on breast cancer screening in South Africa at the Springs Senior citizens Club, 7th Street, North Springs, from 10am to 11am. There will be a Q&A session after the lecture. Refreshments will be available. The lecture is free, but booking is essential. RSVP with the X-ray department at the N17 Springs Hospital on 011 815 2814/6409 (open 24 hours) before or on November 6.

November 30

• Save the date. Trinity Methodist Church will hold a fête with lots of stalls, fun and food to choose from. Further details will follow closer to the time. Contact the church office on 011 815 3346.

• The Springs Country Club will host a Summer Fun Golf day at Springs Country Club from 8am. The day will be a Betterball Scramble Drive and all men (who should have handicap of 14) playing are asked to dress as women and the women (with a 22 handicap) will dress as men. December 3

• Senior Citizens Springs Centre has a permanent hairdressing facility from 9am. Booking is essential. The centre is located at 1A Seventh Street North, just off First Avenue in the CBD. Contact Merle Mackenzie on 011 811 1700.

Every Friday

• Senior Citizens Lunch at 12noon at SpringsCare. Booking is essential and must be confirmed by Thursday no later than 2pm. The centre is located at 1A Seventh Street North, just off First Avenue in the CBD. Contact Merle Mackenzie on 011 811 1700.

• Yoga classes from 10am to 11am at the Senior Centre situated at 1A Seventh Street North in Springs CBD. Contact Merle Mackenzie on 011 811 1700.

Every Saturday

• The South African Sea Cadets meets every Saturday at Training Ship Springs on Colliery Road, Lodeyko, from 8.30am to 3.30pm. Boys and girls ages 11 to 18 are invited to join them to learn about maritime and naval skills and enjoy great camaraderie in a fun environment. Contact Lt Commander Chris Hand on 076 226 6646.

Every first Saturday of the month

• Bokkie Park food and craft market and car boot sale at the Bokkie Park, Southvale Road, Parkdene, Boksburg, from 9am to 2.30pm. Over 80 food and craft stalls, children’s activities, up to 40 car boot stalls, live entertainment and tea garden. For food and craft stalls contact Janine Richardson on 072 713 3332. Every first Wednesday of the month

• Join the Boksburg Hiking Club for a meeting at the Atlas Bowling Club on the corner of Denel North and Atlas roads, Bonaero Park. Braai fires will be ready from 5.30pm and the meeting starts at 7pm. Contact Emily Delport on 082 456 4946.

• The East Rand Woodworkers Association has its meeting at Northfield Methodist Church in Aerodrome Drive, Northmead, Benoni, at 6pm. Meetings are open to anyone with an interest in woodwork. Contact Les Sales on 082 219 4552.
