Dian Marais: “What they do is wrong. Lying is not right and they get to lie about something so big. I think they should be fined, but I don’t think the fine is worth someone going to prison for.”
Jerry Phala: “They should be arrested. When a person has raped, they are sentenced to 15 years. I think it should be just more than five years for those women for them to learn a lesson, or a R15 000 fine.”
Nicholas Mkhize: “What they do is harassment. If the man gets arrested, what’s going to happen to his family? What those women do only adds to poverty.”
Pearl Nhlapo: “Evidence should be found first and if they find that woman was not raped, she should go to prison and the government should compensate those who went to jail for being falsely accused and also scrap their criminal record.”
Nicolete Cowley: “It is wrong. If women do lie then I think they should be punished somehow, but I don’t think prison will be the right punishment.”
Freedom Mathonzi: “I think they are wrong and they should go to jail. If the accused go to jail for three years, then the accuser should also go to jail for three years.”
Helen Willemse: “I think it is wrong. You can’t go around accusing people, but sometimes it gets difficult to see who’s right and who’s wrong. Whoever is wrong should go to jail.”
Desmond Setati: “I think women have a tendency to agree to sleep with men for money and once they don’t get the money, they cry rape, which is wrong. They should be punished.”
