The suspect wanted for the murder on a 19-year-old girl was arrested this morning, confirmed Springs police spokesperson Amanda Greybe.
“Thanks to all different units who worked side by side such as Geduld East Rand 911 group, Springs Saps, Springs metro, Hi-5 Recovery Task Team, Pasoe Investigations and the Department of Community Safety Saturation Unit, Gauteng Traffic Department.
“Flyers were circulated on social media of the wanted suspect and information came through to the Department of Community Safety Saturation Unit, Gauteng Traffic Dept who they followed up on the tips.
“Due to members of the community they managed to apprehend the suspect walking along Plantation Road towards Geduld, near the Springs Abattoir,” says Greybe.
The members who arrested the suspect are Provincial Inspector Lucky Nkosi, Insp Vhongani Nkwashu and Insp Miliswa Shawe.
“Springs Saps wants to thank all departments who worked so hard non-stop to find the suspect and especially to the members from the community who gave the tip-off.
“They are our eyes and ears outside and it proves again that we all can make a difference working together in the fight against crime,” says Greybe.

It has emerged the victim murdered yesterday morning in Geduld was a 19-year-old girl.
Police have confirmed that the 18-year-old suspect is related to the women.
Springs Police spokesperson Captain Johannes Ramphora says details of how the suspect gained entry to the house are sketchy.
“The victim was in the kitchen cooking when she was attacked by the suspect.
“All the victim’s boyfriend, who was in the bathroom at the time of the murder, heard was a woman screaming and when he went to investigate he allegedly saw the suspect stabbing the victim.
“He (the suspect) ran away immediately after he committed the crime but it is alleged he later came back to the house and stole a few items,” says Ramphora.
Police say they need to confirm with his parents if he was using drugs.
The suspect is still at large.

8am:
A girl was murdered at home in Rhodes Street, Geduld, yesterday morning.
It is unclear how the suspect gained entry to the house or if there was any relationship between the victim and suspect.
When the Addie was on the scene, neighbours had gathered outside the house and were shell shocked at what had happened.

Springs Police could not yet comment on the crime and said information would be released in due course.
The suspect had not been arrested.
