Struisbult robbed by suspects pretending to be customers

A Struisbult business was robbed yesterday morning by two suspects pretending to be customers, says Springs Police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora.

The store manager was in the shop with another employee when two men walked in pretending to be customers when one suddenly pulled out his firearm and instructed the manager to sit down.

When the manager refused to comply with the instruction, the second suspect came in with his own firearm and together, the suspects ordered the manager and employees to go to the backroom where they were tied up with cable ties.

From the victims, the suspects took R5 000 in cash and two cellphones.

The suspects also took 15 cartons of cigarettes valued at R4 300 and fled the scene.

The victims were later assisted by friend who came to check up on them.

No shots were fired during the robbery.
