Power cables were stolen in Nuffield on Wednesday night.

The thieves dug deep holes in the ground to get to the cables, stripped the cables and left.

Nuffield is a large industrial area and the cables power the whole area, now many businesses are without electricity and are unable to conduct their operations until new cable is installed.

Branda Coelho from one of the businesses says: “It’s obviously been planned for a while.

“They knew exactly where the cables where.

“The cable runs all the way from the railroad, so they obviously had a lot of time to strip the cable and do what they needed to.

“This affects so many companies around here now.

“We are all asking how long is it going to take for all of this to be repaired.”

The business contacted the Springs police who arrived at the scene.

When the Addie contacted the police, they confirmed they knew about the event, but were unable to provide comment as both spokespersons are on leave.
