Striders Athletics Club excel at Two Oceans Marathon

The marathon is known as the ‘world’s most beautiful marathon’ and covers 56km.

 

Members of Springs Striders Athletic Club participated in this year’s installment of the Two Oceans Marathon on April 20.

The event takes place in Cape Town once a year.

The marathon is known as the ‘world’s most beautiful marathon’ and covers 56km.

There are two versions of the marathon, the ultramarathon, which is 56km long and the half-marathon which is 21.1km long.

The marathon takes runners around the Cape Peninsula, offering them spectacular views and vistas of the Mother City.

Mziwakhe Crossby Maseko, Ferdi van Tonder, Bruce Benadie, Jean Myburgh, Petra Myburgh, Eunese Beukes, Monique Beukes, Theresa Beukes, Annie Arbuckle, Karl Herwig, Larissa Donker, Carol Wallace and Elaine Beytell and Alison Herwig from the Striders Club all competed in the ultramarathon.

Izan Dippenaar and Carla Kruger both competed in the half-marathon.

Freddie van Tonder completed his third Two Oceans marathon.

Sisters Monique and Theresa Beukes completed their first Two Oceans, Petra Myburgh completed her ninth one with her son Jean. Petra will do her 10th in 2020.

This was Larissa Donker’s second Two Oceans and Carol Wallace received her permanent number in her 10th race and Annie Arbuckle completed her third Two Oceans race.

Ferdie van Tonder finished in 5: 33:55

Bruce Benadie finised in 6:47:46

Jean Myburgh finished in 6:51:05

Petra Myburgh finished in 6:51:05

Eunese Beukes finished in 6:52:41

Monique Beukes finished in 6:52:41

Theresa Beukes finished in 6:54:07

Annie Arbuckle finished in 6:58:14

Karl Herwig finished in 6:58:14

Larissa Donker finished in 6:58:15

Carol Wallace finished in 7:25:38.
