KwaThema Bulls host basketball trials

KwaThema Bulls will embark on school visits to engage with learners on a more personal level and form a relationship with schools so that they can work together to promote sports.

KwaThema – KwaThema Bulls hosted basketball clinics for girls and boys at the KwaThema Sports Complex on Saturday.

Despite the great turnout, they are still recruiting players.

“Not everyone is interested nor good in soccer, and those who would like to come and join us are more than welcome.

“We are looking for u-12, u-14, u-16 and u-18 players,” says basketball coach Thandokuhle Kunene.

This opportunity is open to the whole community of Kwatsaduza.

Siyamukela Zitha (16), who has been playing basketball for four years, says, “Basketball has very different rules and formations and as a player you rely on your mind a lot.”

He adds that the lack of facilities and sports parks could be the reason many are reluctant to participate in sports.

Lebogang Nkopane (16), a female player, says she has been playing basketball since 2017.

“It is a competitive sport, but fun.

“I have made friends even though some girls think that playing basketball turns you into a tomboy or snob, which is not true. I think a person should come try it out and see whether they will like it or not,” says Nkopane.

Individuals who are interested are welcome to contact Kunene on 078 117 0485 or check out their Facebook page: KwaThema Bulls.
