Munsamy says the year begins with the blessings of Lord Uma Maheshwar, Lord Shiva, who is the presiding deity for Vikari Varusham.

“The predictions indicate that the loss and gain of material values in our lives will be equivalent, indicating that the downfall and progress will be gradual.

“Weather patterns will be fluctuating, which could cause damage to bridges and roads.

“However, good rains in between will yield good crops and there will be a prosperous agricultural achievement in general.

“Energy will be in crisis, with the unpredictable cost and shortages affecting the community’s daily living.

“Higher education will be adversely affected by protests and disruptive actions, especially students attending universities and colleges.

“Careless use of mobile devices while driving is predicted to cause more road hazards than normal, causing an increase in road deaths.

“The unusual increase in dread diseases will make it difficult for doctors to diagnose causes, making the treatment a challenge.

“Crime and theft will be on the rise as criminals create new concepts to betray and cheat people.

“The forthcoming elections taking place this year will see many changes in parliament within the new cabinet and a change in various portfolios.

“As astrologers predict, these are all experiences that we must encounter.

“Through our prayer and mannerism, we can reach our destination safely and peacefully and welcome this New Year with allure and desire, protection and progress,” says Munsamy.

The evening was followed by a scrumptious meal prepared by the women of the Sungum.

“This event would not have been successful without the support from our sponsors and all who assisted,” says chairwoman Poovershree Pillay, who welcomed and shared a message on behalf of the organisation about the importance of maintaining their heritage and the role parents and leaders play in the lives of our children and in the community.
