Men and women in blue promoted

For them to be promoted, they were recommended for the promotion by the management.

Members of the Springs police were promoted to new ranks in a ceremony which took place at the police station on Friday.

For them to be promoted, they were recommended for the promotion by the management.

The police officers have no disciplinary cases against them, hence the management recommended them.

Brig Thembeka Gwebushe, station commander, says: “The officers got the promotion because they are disciplined and they never book in sick as they are very dedicated to their work.

“It will improve the service delivery because they are highly motivated to do their jobs and they will set an example to their other colleagues and motivate them as well to do better in their jobs.”

Emotions filled the boardroom as the promoted officers shed tears as Gwebushe mentioned them one by one and told them what she likes about how they do their job.

“I’m overwhelmed, I’m excited. I thank God for this and I am ready for the challenges the promotion will bring,” says Sgt Poppy Khanye, who was promoted from being a constable.

The police spokesperson, Capt Johannes Ramphora, says: “Members were promoted because of their service, knowledge, expertise and also qualifications as some have been constables for over five years and others have diplomas and degrees.

“Those are some of the requirements they need to meet among others.

“As Springs management we are very happy that they got promoted.

“Some other reasons why they were promoted are that they are disciplined and don’t have any criminal records, no misconduct and they have a positive attitude towards the job,” says Ramphora.
