Veritas celebrates 21st perfect score

Veritas College celebrated a perfect score in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) exams with a 100 per cent pass rate.

For the 21st consecutive year, Veritas College celebrated a perfect score in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) exams with a 100 per cent pass rate.

With the national IEB pass rate for the 2018 sitting at 98.9 per cent, the school’s teaching staff are extremely proud of their learners.

The group of 47 learners attained 72 distinctions with top learners Luna Asefaw and Michael Venter receiving eight and six distinctions respectively.

Luna also placed in the top one per cent of the country’s maths learners where Ashley Ann Boy was in the top one per cent in hospitality studies.

The top achievers were:

• Luna Asefaw with eight distinctions including A+ symbols for three of her subjects including advanced programme maths and an average of 87 per cent.

Michael Venter.

• Michael Venter with six distinctions, including advanced programme maths and three A+ symbols. He attained an average of 85 per cent.

• Emily Taylor received four distinctions including A+ symbols in two subjects and an average of 81 per cent.

• Graeme Selkon got four distinctions and an average of 79 per cent.

• Diane Bada achieved three distinctions including one A+ and an average of 81 per cent.

• Wandile Dlamini got three distinctions including one in advanced programme mathematics, a 79 per cent for one other subject and an average of 77 per cent.

• Nontobeko Sithebe achieved three distinctions including an A+ symbol and an average of 79 per cent.

Speaking about the achievements of all Veritas’ learners, head of academics, Judy Achary says: “Gifted and average learners alike work with us to achieve great results.

“We have had an influx of new, dynamic, experienced teachers who have joined the group of existing subject experts on our staff body.

“What a magnificent team!”
